    Holistic Hair Packaging Symbols

What Do Our Packaging Symbols Mean?

    Our Commitment to Responsible Practices
At Holistic Hair, our packaging symbols represent our commitment to ethical practices and the responsible care of our products. Each symbol provides information about our verified certifications, ingredient philosophy, recycling codes, and usage instructions.

    B Corp Certified

Certified B Corporation: We meet rigorous, independently verified standards of social and environmental responsibility, transparency, and accountability. This certification recognizes our commitment to balancing profit with purpose.

    Vegan Certified

Certified by the New Zealand Vegetarian Society: Our products (excluding Pure Shampoo & Conditioner) adhere to strict vegan guidelines and contain no animal-derived ingredients.

    Vegetarian Approved

All Holistic Hair products are vegetarian approved, aligning with our commitment to ethical ingredient sourcing.

    Against Animal Testing

As active members of the New Zealand Anti-Vivisection Society (NZAVS), we firmly oppose animal testing and are committed to cruelty-free beauty standards.

    CleanHub Partner

Plastic Collection Funding: Through our partnership with CleanHub, we fund the collection of ocean-bound plastic. For every product sold, we finance the recovery of plastic waste from the environment in high-impact regions.

rPET1 – Recycled PET Plastic Bottles

Our bottles are manufactured from 100% recycled plastic (rPET). PET is globally recognized for its high recyclability and is used by leading New Zealand brands (such as Coca-Cola NZ and TranzAlpine Honey) to support a circular economy. We use amber-tinted rPET to naturally protect our botanical ingredients from UV degradation, ensuring potency without additional chemical stabilizers.

How to Dispose of rPET1 Correctly

    In Aotearoa New Zealand:
Under the 2024 National Recycling Standards, amber PET1 bottles are fully accepted in all kerbside recycling bins nationwide (Yellow Lid). While clear PET is often recycled locally into new food containers, amber PET is successfully identified by NZ sorting technology and typically repurposed into high-quality industrial materials or textiles.

Action: Rinse the bottle and remove the lid.
    • Place the bottle in your Recycling bin.
    • Place the lid in your Red Lid Rubbish bin (landfill).
*For a zero-waste option, you can save lids for the Caps & Lids Recycling Scheme (see below).

    Rest of the World (International):
Recycling systems vary by country. In many regions (including the EU, UK, and USA), current 2026 mandates often require you to keep the cap on. Internationally, amber PET is a valuable resource for "downcycling" into durable goods like polyester fibers for clothing or automotive parts.

Action: Please consult your local municipal waste authority for their specific requirement regarding caps and colored PET.

Global Compliance Disclaimer: Holistic Hair provides these guidelines based on current standards. As recycling infrastructure is managed at a local government level, we recommend verifying with your specific local authority to ensure compliance and avoid stream contamination.

The Caps & Lids Recycling Scheme (NZ Only)

In New Zealand, lids are too small for standard sorting machines. To keep them out of landfills, save your clean lids and drop them at The Packaging Forum’s Caps & Lids collection points at participating PAK’nSAVE, New World, and Four Square supermarkets.

    Glass Packaging

We incorporate glass packaging for specific products to provide a durable, 100% infinitely recyclable alternative to plastic.
Recycling Tip: Remove metal or plastic lids before placing glass jars/bottles in your recycling bin (or glass-specific crate where provided).

    Recyclable FSC-Certified Paper

We utilize recyclable FSC-certified paper and cardboard. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) mark ensures these materials are sourced from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental and social benefits.

    New Zealand FernMark License

This symbol is a formal government recognition of our products' connection to New Zealand. It reflects our commitment to quality and authenticity, with our products proudly formulated and made in Aotearoa New Zealand.

    Product Care & Safety

Keep Out of Direct Sunlight: To maintain the integrity of our botanical ingredients, store products in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct light.

Period-After-Opening (12M): The 12M symbol indicates that the product is best used within 12 months of opening to ensure maximum effectiveness and botanical freshness.
